I Saw A Movie?!

Yes, I saw a movie. In the theater. That NEVER happens.

The boy and I went to see Up. And I suggest you log out and go see it RIGHT NOW. The first five to ten minutes of the movie were maybe my favorite scenes in all of cinema. Holy cow. So moving.

The movie was an interesting collage of a lot of random elements that ended up working out REALLY well. Go see it. I mean that.

In other news, (to take a cue from Peter Griffin) do you know what really grinds my gears?

I can't stand hearing people say "social security." No one says it as it was meant to be said, as two words. All I ever hear is "Sosecurity" or "Soshsecurity." It never used to bother me, but now, I'm so tired of hearing it. Even the NPR announcers say it from time to time.

Stop it. And go see Up.

Out

I think I'm going to see UP on Wednesday...can't wait! And yes, I agree about the social security thing!

I've never wanted to cuddle with someone (a certain someone, that is) so much as after those first ten minutes of the movie. What a powerful metaphor of dragging your past with you of a house suspended so precariously by balloons. If I weren't such a heartless bastard I'd have cried at the end when he opens up the book.

But Aaron did. What a guy. (My guy, that is.)

I cried then. I cried at the beginning. I cried when the house caught fire. I was just a wreck through the whole thing. :-P

I was kind of iffy on it, but now I really want to freaking go see Up.

I was iffy, too. And then I read a few reviews from people I trust, and I realized I had to see it.

If for nothing else, you should see it for the Pixar short before the movie and the first five or ten minutes of the actual movie. Amazing stuff.

My gear-grinders are too long to list, but one that stands out is: where I work, whenever they want to talk about the future, they always use the phrase "going forward". For example, "Going forward, we will adhere to a KPI of 80% for the initial response". I hate it sooo much.
