Haha, Gateway book, like gateway drug, right? I've not read that one. We had Enid Blyton's books as a kid, one of which really caught my imagination - "The Magic Faraway Tree". I'm still trying to get hold of a copy of it to read to see if it's still as good as I remember.
I will have to say the Bible for obvious reasons (every story known to mankind is in there if you only know where to look), but there are so many favourites that I would not know where to start.
Thus far I've graduated college with an English degree (read: I work in a bank), come out to friends and family (read: I'm gay), accompanied my boyfriend of seven years to all kinds of sweet events (read: I'm taken), and managed not to make too many enemies in the whole process. Life is...
